Course detail: Human Trafficking Investigations: From Victim Identification to Prosecution

Human Trafficking Investigations: From Victim Identification to Prosecution is a practitioner-led interactive training course for all Kansas-certified law enforcement officers and non-commissioned analysts. 

The course is designed to increase recognition and investigative skills in combatting human sex trafficking. 

Core Competencies:
  • Participants will employ best practices as they identify and respond to any crime involving human sex trafficking from its beginning to its eventual disposition.

Course Objectives: 
  • Define human trafficking and understand its different forms 
  • Identify the signs and indicators of human trafficking 
  • Identify common venues for trafficking and commercial sex 
  • Discover trafficker culture, advertising, and communication methods
  • Review countermeasures and tactics used by traffickers 
  • Provide best practices for victim interviews 
  • Examine applicable statutes and elements of criminality 
  • Identify opportunities for corroborative evidence 
  • Develop and implement effective victim support strategies 
  • Identity legal remedies and advocacy for victims 
  • Review case studies

Who Should Attend: 
  • Law enforcement officers who work in or supervise investigations or patrol, including agency executives and heads. 
  •  Civilian analysts working for law enforcement agencies.
