Course detail: Fire Officer 1 Training

This five-day IFSAC and Pro Board certification course addresses NFPA 1020, Chapter 9, Standard for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, Fire Officer, and Emergency Medical Services Officer Professional Qualifications, with a focus on the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a Fire Officer I. Course content emphasizes human resource management, community and government relations, administration, inspection and investigation, emergency service delivery, and health and safety. Per NFPA 1020, candidates shall meet the job performance requirements of Fire Instructor I (Chapter 4) prior to or concurrent with Fire Officer I certification. Certification written examination is administered on Day 5.

Required Textbook - either hard copy or e-book: Jones & Bartlett Learning, Fire Officer: Principles and Practice, 5th Edition. National certification is available for this level.
