Course detail: Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar

Seminar Description:

The Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar is a live, interactive online leadership program created for law enforcement supervisors and administrators who want practical tools for managing a department and its people-without the travel demands of a traditional in-person seminar. Participants join via Zoom for topic-based modules that emphasize real-world problems, decision-making, and discussion.

Unlike many virtual trainings, the Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar is designed for engagement. Participants select the sessions they plan to attend, and certificates of attendance are issued only for sessions fully attended according to published Zoom etiquette and attendance verification standards. Each module includes actionable takeaways and optional digital resources to help participants apply concepts immediately.

The Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar is intentionally offered as a separate experience from the in-person KPAS program. The in-person seminar remains the immersive, week-long, on-site format; The Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar provides a flexible alternative for agencies that need high-value leadership development with minimal staffing disruption. The Virtual Police Administrators' Seminar focuses on leadership fundamentals with practical application.

Below are examples of module topics (final schedule may vary):
  • Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation
  • Contemporary Legal Issues for Law Enforcement Leaders (optional for out-of-state, as applicable)
  • Managing Organizational Change
  • Hiring & Retention: Best Practices
  • Professional Standards Investigations: Best Practices
  • Media Relations / Role of the Department PIO
  • Succession Planning
  • CPOST Overview & Investigative Processes (state-specific; note applicability)
  • Engaging Community Stakeholders
And more?
