Course detail: Community Behavioral Health Worker Training (CBHW)
Community Health Workers collaborate with local organizations and community partners to support individuals and families while addressing social and health-related barriers. This training provides foundational knowledge about community health work, with a focus on mental health, substance use, and public health-areas of critical need in communities with limited access to care.
This 48-hour virtual training provides you with skills associated with behavioral health, substance use disorder, and community health work. (This training does not qualify you for Kansas State CHW certification.)
Eligibility Criteria
- 18 years or older
- At least a GED or high school diploma
Course Materials
Course materials, including outlines, presentation copies, and supplementary materials, will be accessible through Canvas, KU's online learning system. Instructions will be provided upon completed registration for how to set up your KU online ID to access Canvas.
Pre-Registration Application Process
Prior to registering, you must complete an applicant screening process, which includes a brief application form and short phone call. Complete the KU School of Medicine Application Form to get started or contact us at professionalprograms@ku.edu to find out when the next application period will begin.
