KU Center on Disabilities

The Kansas University Center on Disabilities partners with people with disabilities, families, and communities to strengthen self-determination and inclusive pathways to adulthood. KUCD's online learning courses provide flexible, evidence-based training in self-determination instructional practices, inclusive research capacity building, and community teaming strategies to support people with disabilities across the lifespan. Our courses support educators, service providers, and researchers to develop actionable instructional skills, apply evidence-based practices, collaborate across systems, and strengthen inclusive, community-engaged supports.

Courses & Events

This course is designed to train teachers and other school personnel to implement the Goal Time practice in middle and high school classrooms. Goal Time is an evidence-based practice that supports students to build self-determination skills by setting goals, taking action toward those goals, and evaluating their progress. Increased self-determination is strongly linked to positive school and post-school outcomes.
