Course detail: Deaf-Hearing Team Interpreting in Action
This workshop is open to certified hearing interpreters and Deaf interpreters who are either certified or non-certified with some formal training. Our goal is to support stronger local collaboration, increase comfort and confidence in team interpreting, and create a space where interpreters can grow, connect, and learn from one another in an authentic and supportive environment.
At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:
- Articulate the benefits of effective Deaf/hearing interpreter team collaboration in various interpreting contexts.
- Analyze key aspects of team dynamics, including trust building, communication, and shared decision making.
- Distinguish between intermediary interpretations and target interpretations, recognizing key similarities and differences.
- Apply a range of strategies and approaches when interpreting collaboratively in mock scenarios.
