This course is designed to train teachers and other school personnel to implement the Goal Time practice in middle and high school classrooms. Goal Time is an evidence-based practice that supports students to build self-determination skills by setting goals, taking action toward those goals, and evaluating their progress. Increased self-determination is strongly linked to positive school and post-school outcomes.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the concept of self-determination and its importance for student success.
• Assess students' self-determination skills.
• Implement the Goal Time practice effectively in classroom settings.
• Support students in setting, monitoring, and achieving goals.

Course Outcomes
Participants will develop a strong understanding of the Goal Time practice and how it promotes self-determination in students. They will leave the course equipped with practical strategies, tools, and the resources to successfully implement Goal Time in their classrooms/schools.

• Middle and high school teachers.
• Special education professionals.
• School counselors and psychologists.
• Administrators and other school personnel interested in promoting student self-determination.

Prerequisites
No prior experience with Goal Time is required.
Basic familiarity with classroom instruction and student support practices is helpful but not mandatory.

Required Materials
No textbooks are required.
All necessary implementation materials and resources will be provided electronically upon course completion. These include Goal Time Teacher Guide, lesson plans, lesson PowerPoints, Student Activity Booklet, and fillable implementation schedule.

The course consists of five asynchronous modules, each taking approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to complete. Participants will receive a certificate of completion and implementation resources.
