As a result of this training students will be able to facilitate accurate and transparent communication in interpreting sessions using basic medical terminology for the human body, medical symptoms, and basic medical instructions; apply the Medical Interpreter Code of Ethics, HIPAA privacy rules, Utah Mandatory Reporting rules, and professional standards for medical interpreters; demonstrate effective intervention skills with medical professionals and patient; and demonstrate cultural competency in medical interpreting communications.
