The Salt Lake County Health Department requires everyone wanting to be a certified I/M emissions inspector in Salt Lake County to complete this 24-hour training class offered only by Salt Lake Community College. SLCC's Applied Vehicle Emissions course includes an online component along with a two-hour in-person lab held on the Miller Campus in Sandy.

Salt Lake County Health Department requires everyone wanting to renew their emissions technician certification to complete this 2-hour self-paced online training class offered only by Salt Lake Community College.

This 16-hour course provides the necessary training and testing for individuals performing safety inspections for tractors, trailers, and busses, or other vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 or higher. Students that score 80% or higher on their final examination are eligible to apply for their Vehicle Inspection Certification from the Utah Department of Public Safety.
