Course Description:

Gen Zers are starting their careers and Millennials are taking on leadership positions within our organizations. In a refreshing way, we will explore the numerous positive characteristics they bring to our organizations and how to utilize their unique skill sets. We will study how different generations were raised and how it has molded them into the employees they are today. Building on that information, we take a closer look at researched based studies and innovative ideas on how to recruit, retain, motivate, and grow our future leaders.

Managing Self - Participants will harness one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations and to achieve goals and aspirations.
Leading People - Participants will lead and engage people to maximize organizational performance.
Leading Organizations - Participants will appraise and adopt the duties and behaviors incumbent upon a law enforcement leader who acts in ways that support the needs of their organization, community, and profession.

Biography:

Col. BrendaDietzman (Ret.) is a recruiting and retention subject matter expert for theInternational Association of Chiefs of Police and the American JailAssociation. She has written several articles for professional magazines andhas presented on this subject at numerous national conferences.

In 2019, sheretired from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office in Wichita, Kansas as theundersheriff in charge of jail operations. She oversaw two facilities with atotal population of 1400+ inmates, 300+ employees and a $40 million budget.During her time in law enforcement, she also served as the captain in charge ofthe Patrol Division and the Judicial Division, a lieutenant in both the PatrolDivision and the Special Projects Unit, a Community Policing sergeant,detective, and a road patrol deputy. She has over 28 years of law enforcementand corrections experience.

She is anIADLEST internationally certified trainer and has presented to national andinternational audiences for both private and public sector organizations.
