Course detail: Grappler Police Bumper Train-the-Trainer

Course Description
The Grappler Police Bumper Train the Trainer course prepares designated law enforcement instructors to safely and effectively train agency personnel in the operation, deployment, inspection, and maintenance of the Grappler Police Bumper vehicle immobilization system. This course is designed for agencies that have installed the Grappler Police Bumper on patrol vehicles and require qualified instructors to deliver standardized, defensible training within their organization.

Participants receive an academic instructional framework for classroom delivery and demonstrate competency through hands on practical exercises. Emphasis is placed on proper deployment techniques, safety considerations, post deployment procedures, and instructor readiness through teach back exercises. The course also addresses policy considerations and lawful use within Kansas statutes to support agency level implementation.

This training is supported by Grappler Police Bumper, Stock Enterprises LLC, and the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

Core Competency
Participants will apply lawful, safe, and effective Grappler Police Bumper deployment practices by demonstrating operational proficiency, maintenance knowledge, and the ability to instruct agency personnel using approved curriculum and training standards.

Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Demonstrate advanced operational knowledge of Grappler Police Bumper deployment, driving techniques, and target engagement. 
  • Perform and instruct mandatory inspection, maintenance, loading, and post deployment procedures for the Grappler Police Bumper system. 
  • Deliver the approved Grappler Police Bumper curriculum through effective classroom instruction, practical exercises, and performance based evaluations. 
  • Advise agency leadership on policy considerations and lawful deployment of the Grappler Police Bumper in accordance with Kansas criminal statutes.

Who Should Attend
  • Law enforcement agencies that have purchased and installed the Grappler Police Bumper on patrol vehicles 
  • Law enforcement personnel who have successfully completed a recognized Instructor Development Course
  • Officers designated by their Chief, Sheriff, Commandant, or Agency Director to serve as Grappler Police Bumper instructors

The University of Kansas has determined that the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) main campus in Hutchinson and its regional sites in Dodge City, Hays, and Parsons are separate campuses. This determination was made in consultation with the Department of Education. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred On-Campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-Campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the institution or a recognized student organization; and on Public Property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.  A paper copy of the report will be provided upon request.
