Course detail: AE508-NC: Aerospace Stuctures II

Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the structural analysis techniques used in aerospace engineering, with a focus on finite element methods (FEM) and their application to aircraft and spacecraft components. The course bridges theoretical foundations with practical tools and workflows used in engineering design and analysis.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with:
  • Elasticity and energy-based methods for structural analysis
  • Finite element modeling of rods, beams, plates, and shells
  • MSC/NASTRAN software for simulation and design vailidation
  • Buckling analysis and structural optimization

Who Should Attend?

  • Engineers transitioning into aerospace structural roles
  • Professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of FEM
  • Technical staff involved in design, analysis, or certification of aerospace systems
  • Buckling analysis and structural optimization

Prerequisites and Preparation

Participants should have:
  • A working knowledge of engineering machanics (stress, strain, equilibrium)
  • Familiarity with calculus and linear algebra
  • Basic exposure to structural analysis or finite element modeling is helpful but not required
