Course detail: CERTITR - Introduction to Technical Rescue

Certification Test for Introduction to Technical Rescue.

PREREQUISITE FOR THIS TEST: The candidate must have successfully completed the Introduction to Technical Rescue blended learning course. This certification test must be successfully completed before attempting any other Technical Rescue certification test (i.e., Rope I & II, Confined Space I & II, or Structural Collapse I & II).

WRITTEN TEST: There is a 50-question written test.

SKILLS TEST: There are four (4) skills stations.

STANDARD: The certification test is based upon the NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, 2013 edition, Chapter 5, Job Performance Requirements.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: The required personal equipment for each candidate is listed in the Rope Rescue Technician Levels 1 & 2 Certification Guide, available on the KFRTI website.

FEES: There is no fee associated with this certification test.
KU provides accommodations for certification candidates in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Documentation of the diagnosis from a qualified professional, and a request for accommodation, should be submitted in writing to the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute Certification Manager at least two weeks prior to the exam. The submitted documentation will help KFRTI identify appropriate accommodations. The two week advanced notice/request allows the Institute to assemble the resources necessary for the accommodation.
