Course detail: Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) and FAA Requirements - ONLINE

Description
This course discusses the FAA Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and design concepts required to ensure all aspects of aircraft electrical wiring and installation are safe. It examines aircraft wiring as a system and reviews all Part 25 CFRs related to EWIS FAA certification. Student teams will review FAA Advisory Circulars and present practical applications of the information in a simulation of the EWIS certification process. EWIS requirements for aircraft maintenance and inspection will also be discussed.

Course Schedule
When this course is offered online for open enrollment delivery, it meets for 9 live-online sessions held 2 times per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) for 2.5 hours. All live sessions are recorded and made available online the following day. The live course sessions account for 22.5 hours of the total 31.5 instructional hours of the course. The remaining hours (1-2 hours per week) will consist of assigned work (readings, assignments, etc.) between live class sessions.

Who Should Attend?
The course is designed for all aircraft design areas including electrical, avionics, and HIRF/lightning engineers and aircraft technicians. Aircraft managers and project engineers working in electrical/avionics related areas should also attend.

Registration is open until the first day of the course; however, early registration is encouraged.
The online course fee includes individual access to the Zoom course meetings and to course materials, readings, videos, and resources in Blackboard, the University of Kansas Learning Management System.
No additional textbook purchases are required outside the course fee.
