Course detail: Developing Women Leaders

Course Description:

Evidence-Based Insight and Solutions for Recruiting, Retaining and Developing Women Leaders

Women are underrepresented in law enforcement and particularly in leadership positions. Of course, there are external factors that play a role in this. Still, the core of this presentation will examine the unconscious actions and beliefs that can hinder women's development and success in our chosen profession. We will explore how imposter syndrome stifles women's careers and how to overcome the feeling that they're not quite ready for that promotion or project. Learn how to overcome the daily battle with the inner critic that reinforces insecurities and how speech and body language can dictate how women are perceived. We will also discuss family planning, relationships, perfectionism, mentoring, leadership development, career planning, and how we can all better support the women in our organizations and our lives.

This course is Missouri Post Certified

Biography:

Col. BrendaDietzman (Ret.) is a recruiting and retention subject matter expert for theInternational Association of Chiefs of Police and the American JailAssociation. She has written several articles for professional magazines andhas presented on this subject at numerous national conferences.

In 2019, sheretired from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office in Wichita, Kansas as theundersheriff in charge of jail operations. She oversaw two facilities with atotal population of 1400+ inmates, 300+ employees and a $40 million budget.During her time in law enforcement, she also served as the captain in charge ofthe Patrol Division and the Judicial Division, a lieutenant in both the PatrolDivision and the Special Projects Unit, a Community Policing sergeant,detective, and a road patrol deputy. She has over 28 years of law enforcementand corrections experience.

She is anIADLEST internationally certified trainer and has presented to national andinternational audiences for both private and public sector organizations.
