Course detail: KU Cybersecurity Boot Camp

The frequency of data and security breaches in the news grows almost daily, and as a result, there is tremendous job demand for cybersecurity professionals. It's important now, more than ever, to have trained, skilled professionals securing our data and personal information.


The 24-week Cybersecurity Boot Camp is a challenging, part-time program that takes a multidisciplinary approach to attaining proficiency in IT, networking, and modern information security.

Throughout the course, you will gain experience with a host of popular tools such as Wireshark, Kali Linux, Metasploit, Nessus, and more. In addition, students will receive two weeks of certification test prep for the Security+ and CEH exams, one year of access to CompTIA's CertMaster Practice online platform to help prepare for the Security+ exam, and at the end of the course, a free voucher, valid for one year, to take the CompTIA Security+ exam. You will also learn methods, techniques, and best practices for convincingly conveying the severity of the risks facing an organization's security posture.

Bulletin

After you register, we will follow up soon with a detailed class schedule as part of your orientation package. You are expected to have a Mac or Windows laptop computer with at least 8 GB of RAM, a 64-bit dual or multi-core processor, at least 256 GB of free disk space and 2.0 GHz CPU, virtualization capabilities (check BIOS settings), and full administrator ("root") privileges for the operating system and all software. Please note that Apple MacBooks featuring the Apple Silicon M1/M2 chips are not permitted as they do not enable virtualization. Chromebooks and tablets (including iPads) are not permitted. Linux-based computers are also not permitted.
