Biography: Kristi graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2002, and immediately began working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office. During her tenure, she handled legal research/writing, appellate/trial advocacy, and administrative functions. Kristi's work culminated, in 2013, with the receipt of a Bronze Wreath of Merit from the Wichita Police Department and, in 2015, with the receipt of a Bronze Medal of Outstanding Service from the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.
Since 2006, Kristi has continuously provided legal training for law enforcement officers with the Wichita Police Department and Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office. Specifically, in February 2020, she provided legal training at the Sedgwick County Law Enforcement Training Center.
In recent years, Kristi has served as a judge pro tem for municipal courts (Derby & Goddard, Kansas) and provided legal and ethical training for national and local associations. Specifically, in 2019, she presented legal ethics to the Kansas Municipal Attorneys' Association and her article entitled "When Impeachment Comes to Town" was published by the National Association of Legal Assistants.
Kristi joined Newman University as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in 2014 and have been honorably mentioned for the President's Teaching Excellence Award (2018 & 2019).
Notably, in 2017 Kristi returned to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office as a Crime Analyst. She invented and executed a new process to ensure systematic, and efficient, review of law enforcement body camera videos.
At the same time (2017), Kristi joined the Wichita/Sedgwick County Coordinated Community Response Team and was hired as its Assessment/Audit Coordinator. In this role, she directed more than 12 months of qualitative and quantitative research into domestic and sexual violence response by various community and criminal justice agencies in Wichita, Kansas. The process culminated with the state and federal approval and subsequent release of a comprehensive report, which she solely authored on behalf of the Assessment Team: "Wichita/Sedgwick County Kansas: Domestic & Sexual Violence Safety Assessment Report."
