Course detail: Intermediate Crime Scene Processing and Investigations
Course Description:
This training is designed for patrol officers or detectives who want to learn more advanced methods of processing crime scenes. The class will focus on recovering fingerprints, pry marks, and shoe tracks, and locating and collecting DNA. The instructors will use methods and products that are affordable to any agency, limiting the need for expensive equipment.
This training is very hands-on. The first day will consist of classroom time with hands-on practicals to follow. The second day is a half day with mock crime scenes. At the end of the first day, there will be a test to ensure the officer/detective knows the skills taught that day. On the second-day mock crime scenes will be a pass/fail methodology.
This training is NOT a photography class, bloodstain pattern analysis, or shooting reconstruction class. Instead, this training aims to inform the participant that evidence can be collected from many items that one might not typically think to process.
Trainers will provide all materials for the practicals and hands-on activities. Participants can bring a camera, but this is not a photography class.
