Course detail: Gold Shield: Law Enforcement Leadership in the 21st Century

Course Description: 
For far too long law enforcement agencies across the country have remained status quo on their agencies mission and vison. Often, this can be the result of resistance to change and stagnant leadership. Perhaps the biggest challenge facing police leaders of the 21st century will be to create organizations that can successfully recognize shifts in culture, community expectations and policing philosophies. Today, maybe more so then ever, a need for innovative and new strategies to policing are in need. Communities across the country are looking for, and demanding, new approaches and change from its law enforcement leaders. 

Built for police leaders from agencies of all sizes, the 21st Century Police Leader delivers an advanced and rigorous course designed to foster, train and empower law enforcement leaders at all levels within their organization. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with other police leaders on several topics and best practices as well as address effective leadership strategies, the current state of policing and the discussion of police reform. Classroom dialogue will provide constructive responses to several present-day issues facing leaders.

Please dress in layers as the temperature in the room may difficult to adjust. Participants are responsible for their own travel, meals and lodging.For those with dorm room reservation, you may check in the evening before your training starts. Please come to the Main KLETC Entrance, it is near the flagpole and marked with a large "A". More information will be provided through email approximately one week before the start of training. Checkout time is Noon on your departure day or last day of training, please have all personal items removed at that time. Law Enforcement officers attending continuing education training are permitted to carry their firearm while on the KLETC campus. Law enforcement officers carrying a firearm on the KLETC campus must possess appropriate agency identification. We are a tobacco and alcohol-free campus. Refund/Cancellation Policy: A full refund of lodging fees will be available if requested in writing coned@kletc.org or kletc@kletc.org and received by KLETC ten days prior to the beginning date of the seminar. After that date, but prior to the seminar, refunds will be made, but a $25.00 administrative fee will be charged. No refunds will be made after the starting date of the seminar.
