Course detail: Introduction to Rope Rescue Operations (Online - NFPA 2021)

Introduction to Rope Rescue Operations is designed to meet the knowledge-based elements of NFPA 1006, 2021 Edition, Chapters 5.1 and 5.2. This course requires approximately 12 hours to complete and includes online quizzes and must be completed before attending Rope Rescue Operations. Individuals must complete Introduction to Rope Rescue Operations and Rope Rescue Operations before receiving Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute award of completion credit. In addition, students must complete the certification testing before attending Rope Rescue Technician and Confined Space Technician. This course covers the basics of technical rope rescue, including but not limited to support resources, size up, management of incident hazards, inspecting of specialized equipment, types and uses of ropes and knots, anchor systems, and rescue operations in both low and high angle environments.
