Course detail: Frontline Supervision Certificate

Attention law enforcement frontline supervisory personnel and aspiring leaders! 

The Missouri POST Program has approved this course for "Approved Provider" training credit of 35 hours, POST Control Number 30049.

The CPSL certificate program is focused on empowering law enforcement leaders and aspiring leaders to be self-sufficient in their roles. We understand the unique challenges faced by these leaders and have tailored our program to address them effectively. At the Center for Public Safety Leadership, we believe that leadership is the key to creating positive change in law enforcement agencies. We believe that by empowering law enforcement leaders and aspiring leaders with the right tools and mindset, we can build safer and stronger communities together. 

The Frontline Supervision Certificate equips aspiring supervisors and new supervisors with practical skills and tools as they launch their leadership careers. This 40-hour program is offered in a hybrid format to provide greater flexibility for departments concerned with staffing levels and travel costs. Participants will: define their leadership philosophy, develop a professional development portfolio, create an action plan, and receive one-on-one coaching and written feedback on all assignments.

The core competencies aligned with this certificate program include:
  • Managing Self - Participants will learn to harness one's emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations and to achieve goals and aspirations. 
  • Managing Projects - Participants will demonstrate strong communication skills to convey messages effectively to share their vision, goals, ideas, and issues. 
  • Leading People - Participants will lead and engage people to maximize organizational performance.

Notice of Availability of the KLETC Annual Security and Fire Safety Report:

The University of Kansas has determined that the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) main campus in Hutchinson and its regional sites in Dodge City, Hays, and Parsons are separate campuses. This determination was made in consultation with the Department of Education. The report is available online t: https://civilrights.ku.edu/clery.

The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: campus law enforcement authority; crime reporting policies; campus alerts (Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications); fire safety policies and procedures; programs to prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking; the procedures the institution will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred On-Campus; in On-Campus Student Housing Facilities; in Non-Campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the institution or a recognized student organization; and on Public Property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus. The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.

Cancellation Policy

A refund less a $150.00 cancellation fee will be assessed for all cancellations made in writing prior to 10 days before the start of the event. After that time, no refunds will be made.
