Monica Simpson
Biography: Monica Simpson, Administrative Assistant/Public Relations Specialist - joined the staff at LCMHS in 2004 as a front desk receptionist. In April of 2008, she became the Administrative Assistant/Public Relations & Marketing person for Labette Center. Born in Northwest Arkansas, her family moved to southeast Kansas where she then spent most of her school age years in St. Paul. Upon graduation from high school, she left to attend Fort Hays State University. Returning to the area in 2001, and completing her bachelor's degree at Pittsburg State University in 2004. In 2014 She received a Master's in Liberal Studies, specializing in Social Networking from Fort Hays State Univerisy. Simpson and her family currently reside in Southeast KS. In 2009 she participated in, and graduated from, the Leadership Parsons 2008-2009 Class. Simpson became a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor in March of 2013 and a Certified Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor in May of 2013. Simpson also holds a designation for the Rural application of MHFA, specifically geared toward rural communities

Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is the initial help offered to a person developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate treatment and support are received or until the crisis resolves.
