Course detail: GEOL 599: Preparation for Professional Geology License Exams

Description: This course is intended for geology graduates seeking professional geology licensure. The course reviews fundamental geologic concepts that are emphasized on the Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) Fundamentals of Geology (FG) exam, but also may be used to prepare for the ASBOG Practice of Geology (PG) exam, or exams required to gain licensure in non-ASBOG states. To be eligible to apply for the ASBOG exam in Kansas, 30 hours of coursework in geology is required.

Who Should Attend: Anyone seeking professional licensure in geology. This course provides a comprehensive review of subject material that is covered on the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology (FG) and Practice of Geology (PG) exams and similar professional licensing exams.  It is offered during the first 8 weeks of each semester, immediately before the Spring and Fall exams are administered.  Students are reminded to apply to take the Spring and Fall ASBOG license exams before Dec 15 and July 15^th.

Meeting dates: The course meets online on Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 PM.

Course Fees: $545 per credit hour

CEUs or PHDs: 15 Units. To earn credit for the course, students are required to attend all class meetings, participate in all discussions, and complete all assignments and quizzes.
