Course detail: Listening to Kansans: Exploring the Dole Archives and Voices from the Big First Exhibit

In 1961, Kansas, with the rest of the United States, found itself at a political, social, and cultural crossroads. The Dole Institute's latest original exhibit, "Voices from the Big First, 1961-1968" is based on constituent letters Bob Dole received as a congressman during his time in the U.S. House of Representatives. Discover the hopes and fears of everyday Kansans as they responded to change at home and conflict abroad in this course put on by the Dole Archives. Participants will tour the museum and archives, look in depth at the Voices exhibit, and explore related archival materials, including 1960s sound recordings from then-Congressman Dole. Join us for an exclusive opportunity for Osher members to delve into the research behind the project.
