Course detail: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (Self-Paced/Online)

Description

This online program prepares those who already have a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt to coordinate and lead large projects by utilizing Lean Six Sigma philosophies and principles, demonstrating team leadership, understanding team dynamics and assigning team member roles and responsibilities. Lean Six Sigma Black Belts communicate to management, provide leadership to projects, and train others working on projects. Those who pass the exam will receive Black Belt certification from the University of Kansas.

Lead efforts to execute the Lean Six Sigma methodology throughout an organization (business level, operations level, and process level)
Learn how to develop a successful Lean Six Sigma program
Apply advanced statistical methods and lean techniques to projects
Design a Lean Six Sigma training program for your organization.

Who should attend?

This program is designed for those who want to lead projects and teams and enhance their career opportunities by expanding the knowledge they have gained from their Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training.

Attendees must have a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in order to register and attend. It is highly recommended that attendees have a Green Belt from the University of Kansas or from a program that covered the ASQ Green Belt Body of Knowledge.

Learning Online

The course is entirely asynchronous (recorded, self-paced). There are five sessions in the course. Each session can be completed when convenient for the attendees and includes readings, activities, and videos, totaling 2 1/2 to 3 hours per session.

No refunds will be granted for this class once the student has accessed the course in the Canvas learning management system. A full refund of registration fees, less a $30 administrative fee, will be approved if requested in writing at jayhawkglobal@ku.edu prior to accessing the course. Heather McCain

Biography: Dr. Heather McCain is currently a Professor of the Practice for Project Management at the University of Kansas. She has more than 25 years of experience in quality engineering and management. She works with companies to implement continuous improvement methodologies and provides training on quality, project management, and process improvement. Recently she was the quality manager for consumer product at Garmin International. Prior to joining Garmin, Heather was with Hallmark Cards and AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) Aerospace and Automotive. Heather is a senior member of American Society for Quality (ASQ) and is extremely active in her local ASQ section. She is also involved with the Joint Engineering Council of Kansas City as the past president. Heather is a Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence. She has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Kansas State University and a master's degree in engineering management from the University of Kansas. She has her PhD in technology management from Indiana State University.
