Course detail: Strangulation, Trauma and Bias Impact on Policing

The first part of this course will explore trending topics in interpersonal violence.

Topics to include:

  • an overview of the new Kansas law that addresses strangulation and suffocation
  • best practices in the investigation of strangulation cases
  • trauma and its effects on domestic violence victims
  • dangerousness topics surrounding interpersonal violence

This second part of this course will explore explicit and implicit biases and the impact that each of these may have on the investigations of crimes and related criminal justice system responses.
