This course is intended for couples and family therapists working with non-monogamist and polyamorous clients. Kansas State University will award 1.5 continuing education hours for successful completion of course requirements to those participants who paid the optional fee.

Content requires 3-5 hours to complete, and learners must score a minimum of 80% on the assessment.

This course is designed to present research and concepts related to non-monogamy and the developmental model and provides an understanding of key tasks in therapy when working with polyamorous client systems. Participants will learn how the developmental model can be used to conceptualize issues polyamorous relationships experience and will learn skills and strategies for working with clients navigating polyamorous or wanting to be polyamorous.

Jimmy Bridges (he/they), PhD, LMFT, CFLE will serve as the instructor for the course. Jimmy is a licensed couple and family therapist in Massachusetts and Vermont, a certified family life educator through NCFR, an AAMFT approved supervisor and clinical fellow, and part-time faculty at National University in the MFT masters and doctoral programs. He received his doctoral and master's degrees in Couple and Family Therapy from Kansas State University. He also received two graduate certificates in Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies and Social Justice Education from Kansas State University. Their clinical specialization is working with queer and non-monogamous clients. They have presented in university settings, conferences, regional organizations, and online platforms on non-monogamy and couples therapy models. Jimmy has worked in community mental health, group practice, and currently manages a full case load in private practice with their nesting partner, who is also a therapist.
