Course: Culture and Conflict

Thiscourse explores how culture shapes the way individuals and groups perceive,experience, and resolve conflict. Learners examine cross-cultural theories,communication patterns, and the impact of variables such as gender, race,colonialism, and power on conflict processes. Emphasis is placed on developingcultural fluency, recognizing personal biases, and applying culturallysensitive strategies to conflict situations. Students build on durable skillssuch as critical thinking, intercultural communication, and ethicaldecision-making while analyzing real-world case studies and conducting acultural interview project. The learning experience requires approximately 45hours and prepares learners to engage in conflict across diverse culturalcontexts with greater awareness and effectiveness. Successful completion ofcourse assignments with an overall score of 80% or higher qualifies learners toearn the microcredential and a verified digital badge.

Course Expectations:
This noncredit microcredential incorporates academic content and learningactivities derived from graduate-level coursework. As a result, participantsshould expect advanced material and a level of rigor and performance consistentwith graduate-level study. Participants are expected to complete the requiredlearning activities and assignments established for the microcredential. Thecourse instructor will provide additional guidance regarding participationrequirements and expectations. The microcredential requires approximately 45hours to complete. To successfully complete the microcredential and earn adigital badge, participants must complete all required assignments and achievean overall score of 80% or higher.
