Course: FBI Academic Biosecurity Workshop

Topics discussed during the Biosecurity Workshop include Biosafety vs. Biosecurity, Dual-use Research, Intellectual Property Protection, Importance of Cybersecurity for Biosecurity, Workplace Violence/Insider Threat Mitigation, Balancing Biosecurity with Research Needs and the FBI WMD Coordinator Program.

The intent of the workshop is to improve cooperation among law enforcement agencies and research institutions to mitigate potential biosecurity issues.

  • Increase awareness of potential biosecurity risks
  • Identify the biosecurity roles and responsibilities of law enforcement agencies
  • Identify the biosecurity roles and responsibilities of research institutions
  • Identify ways to improve cooperation among law enforcement agencies and research institutions
  • Improve communications among biosecurity stakeholders
