Course Detail: WELL-9292 - Cultural Competence in Healthcare: Webinar for Nurses and Other Medical Professionals
When trust is high, patients are more likely to follow medical advice and promote their healthcare providers. As the patient population grows more diverse, nurses and medical professionals must develop cultural competence and humility. This webinar explores key concepts and practical strategies for engaging patients across cultures, including the first minute of contact, creating welcoming environments, and recognizing microaggressions in medical practice.
Objectives: By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Define Cultural Competence in nursing.
- Make greater connections with patients cross culturally.
- Articulate the 5 qualities which help with patient engagement.
Class Note: Upon successful completion, one (1) contact hour will be awarded to nurses, nursing home administrators, social workers, counselors, respiratory technicians, occupational therapists and COTAs, physical therapists and PTAs, and dietitians.
