The Mask and The Shield of Armor: Engaging and Improving Outcomes With Resistant Male Clients
In counseling, only a small percentage of men participate willingly. They are often hard to engage, with high dropout rates and poor outcomes. During this workshop, Mark Sanders will focus on addressing the core issues that many men bring to counseling, such as difficulty expressing feelings, their defensive behavior, unmet needs for father and mother figures, toxic masculinity, lack of role models, male depression, and ways to engage men in counseling. We will discuss strategies for building strong counseling relationships with male clients, unique challenges in counseling men and women, and effective intervention strategies.
