Course Description: The Art & Science of Fabric Manipulation

A basic understanding and practice of sewing is the foundation of this hands-on class. This course reviews primary stitches (straight, zig-zag), and joins the practice of art and science in the construction and deconstruction of fabrics. Learn techniques, such as cutting, sewing, visualizing, and even hand-dying your own fabrics, to create your own fun and individualized project. Recommended Text: Wild Color by Jenny Dean. Cedar North

Biography: Cedar North is an artist and small business owner. They studied at The Cooper Union in New York City primary focus on sculpture, graphic design, and photography. They worked for sculptors, architecture firms, and fabric artists in New York, Seattle, and Portland. As a multi-disciplinary artist, they believe everyone has the ability to find success in art within any industry or small practice. They currently run an intimate apparel brand and are studying in Bend, OR.

Cancellation Policy

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
