Course Description: Photography 103: Landscape Composition and Advanced Editing Techniques

Join professional photographer Steve Giardini to learn how to compose and edit nature and landscape photographs for stunning results. The course covers photo composition theory and advanced Lightroom editing techniques. Be prepared for fast-paced presentations, at-home and in-classroom editing practice (sample files provided), and hands-on field practice. This course includes two field practice sessions in the Central Oregon region. Students must arrange their own transportation to the practice site. Students need an Adobe Lightroom subscription or must be willing to sign up for a free 7-day trial. Additionally, students must have a portable computer or tablet with Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. Please contact the instructor for guidance before purchasing software or hardware. All photo enthusiasts are welcome.

Schedule: Classroom sessions are: 4/14, 4/16, 4/21, 4/23, and 4/28 in COCC's Cascades Hall, room 115; Field sessions are 4/18 and 4/26, location to be determined. Students must self-transport to the field sessions.

Additional Course Information

Required Materials: Students must have a digital camera-cell phone cameras are not allowed. A camera with a detachable lens is preferred, but not required. The camera should have a rechargeable battery and a memory card. A tripod is required. Refer to the computer requirements above. Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
