Course Description: Photography 101: Digital Camera Operations and Exposure

Learn how to create stunning digital photographs from start to finish with professional photographer Steve Giardini. The course focuses on camera operations, including buttons, dials, features and the best settings for specific photo goals. Expect hands-on practice behind the camera. Both beginner and intermediate photo enthusiasts are welcome. There are no prerequisites for this course. A field session will be scheduled for this course. Students are responsible to self-transport to the field session.

Classroom Sessions are: Tuesday and Thursday, 3/10, 3/12, 3/17, 3/19, 3/24 from 5-7:30 pm, at COCC's Chandler Lab, 1027 NW Trenton Avenue, room 207. Field session is 3/21, 7:30 am-11:30 am, location TBD. students must self-transport to the field session.

Additional Course Information

Required Camera Equipment:Students must have a digital camera. Please, no cell phone cameras. A camera with removable lenses is preferred but not necessary. The camera should have a rechargeable battery and a memory card. A tripod is recommended. Contact the instructor if you have questions or need advice about equipment.

Steve Giardini

Biography: Steve J. Giardini is a Bend-based professional outdoor photographer with over a decade of experience. Steve is an artist, educator, speaker, and photo workshop instructor. In addition to photography, his is resume includes 25+ years of community college teaching experience on a variety of subjects. Steve's photographs have been published in local, national and international magazines, and prints of his photos are on display in homes, businesses and art galleries around Oregon. Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash.
