Course Description: Layers of Expression: Art Journaling for Creativity and Reflection

This 4-day art journaling intensive course is designed to guide participants through an expressive, hands-on journey into creative self-discovery using layers of paint, paper, texture and storytelling. Participants will work in two formats:
- large format 9x12 mixed media journal, where they will learn foundational and advanced techniques in layered journaling using acrylic paint, collage, stencils, found paper and more.
-A custom-made mini 4x6 spiral-bound journal, which they will construct from chipboard, watercolor paper, fabric and embellishments-perfect for travel or on-the-go inspiration.
Each class builds upon the last, combining guided instruction with personal exploration. Students will complete multiple journal spreads, explore color, texture and meaning, and leave with two unique journals, one expressive and layered, the other portable, with a highly personalized, artistic cover.

Additional Course Information

Required materials: 9"x12" spiral-bound 60-page journal (Strathmore or Canson XL recommended) and any personal ephemera students want to work with. The instructor will provide all other materials.

Nancy Caldwell

Biography: Nancy Caldwell, a retired teacher with a CA Multiple Subject K-12 Credential, lives both part-time in Bend, Oregon and part-time in Sonoma County, California. Besides her love and practice of Art Journaling, she is certified in the Art4Healing� methodology, utilizing expressive abstract art. Nancy enjoys pickleball, hiking, practicing yoga and tai chi and spending time with family and two dogs.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
