Course Detail: WTET920 - Elementary Methods of Teaching Mathematics

This 45-hour course meets 1 day a week for 8 weeks. As a result of this training educators will be able to critique and modify curriculum to identify tasks that promote reasoning and problem-solving aligned to grade-level standards; differentiate mathematics instruction and assessment according to Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS); describe learning trajectories and vertical progressions for content strands in mathematics and identify where students are in their learning; explain practices that support equitable access for high levels of learning by all students; integrate tools and technology into a lesson that supports effective teaching and meaningful learning; and reflect on dispositions about teaching and learning mathematics and the belief that all people can think mathematically and solve sophisticated mathematical problems with effort.
