This exciting technique is when still glowing-hot ceramic artwork is taken out of the kiln and immediately placed into combustible materials such as sawdust, newspaper, horsehair, grasses, and leaves, resulting in unique and unusual surface effects. You will create ceramic artworks specifically designed for raku firing and participate in this quick and spontaneous firing process. At the end of the course, you will take home a variety of glazed (note that raku surfaces are decorative only), completed ceramic artworks.
