Course Detail: WELL-9278 - The Health Crisis of Domestic Violence: Neurobiological and Maternal Health Considerations

This conference features Dr. Chris Wilson, PsyD of Being Trauma Informed who will explore the neuroscience of trauma, examining how it affects the brain, influences behavior, and shapes perception and memory. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the brain's threat response, common trauma reactions, and effective strategies for support. The second half of the program integrates research on intimate partner violence (IPV) during pregnancy, highlighting its links to reproductive health issues, mental health disorders, and maternal-infant outcomes with Dr. Jacquelyn Campbell, PhD, MSN, BSN, RN, FAAN of John Hopkins School of Nursing. Engaging videos and interactive discussions ensure key concepts resonate, equipping attendees with practical tools for working with trauma-affected individuals.

Continuing education hours: 6.5 contact hours awarded upon successful completion.

KCC will provide CEUs for nurses, social workers and professional/clinical counselors.
Riverside Medical Center will provide CEUs to dispatchers (EMD) and EMTs. 
Harbor House will provide CEUs to Certified Domestic Violence Professionals and Certified Partner Abuse Intervention Professionals.
