Course Detail: WELL-9271 - The Trifecta: Addressing The Intersection of Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorders and Process Addictions
Many clients are vulnerable to slipping through the cracks because of the challenges of addressing their mental illness, substance use and process addictions such as problem gambling or sexual addiction. This can be frustrating for clients and clinicians. Topics covered in this presentation include the intricacies of diagnosing the trifecta; making accurate diagnoses; integrated treatment of mental illness, substance use disorders, and process addictions; and relapse prevention for clients with triple diagnosis.
Objectives: By the end of this presentation participants will be able to:
- Articulate the relationship between mental illness, SUD and process addictions.
- Use Criteria to make accurate diagnosis.
- Provide integrated treatment of the trifecta.
- Provide relapse prevention strategies to clients with triple diagnosis.
Class Note: Upon successful completion, three (3) contact hours will be awarded to nurses, counselors, and social workers. IAODAPCA hours have been applied for and are pending.
