Course Detail: LECT-8816 - Tackling Employee Turnover

This short course will review the current status of turnover with specific references to various industries, generational mindsets when it comes to career aspirations, and the various methods of calculating turnover for use as a key performance indicator. 

Participants will spend time reviewing turnover trends, the top 10 root-causes for turnover, and associated costs of turnover for various levels of the organizational chart. Additional discussions include frameworks and methods which support reducing turnover as it relates to leadership, culture, recruiting practices, employee engagement, community relationships, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, remote work, and others based on current research.

At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
  • Compare their organization to others with comprehensive turnover statistics from 2022 such as "1 in 4 desire to work remotely where possible" and "52% of voluntary turnover is preventable."
  • List the formulas required to apply the seven methods in calculating turnover for your specific needs to report, track, and improve.
  • List background data on the expectations of current generation of employees and potential applicants.
  • List the top 10 root-causes for turnover in organizations today.
  • Explain why these causes exist as it relates to strategy, leadership, labor pool, recruitment methods, employee expectations, pre-employment assessments, and over company culture.
  • Explain which tools are needed to create an internal case study or support a plan to overcome these causes. 
  • List an example of a Pulse Survey to edit for your own use in data collection and improvement plan.
  • Explain ways to incorporate Diversity Equity and Inclusion, remote work, and community outreach as options to improve recruiting and reduce turnover.
