Course Detail: WELL-9246 - Communication and Collaboration: Supporting Survivors with Disabilities

Supporting Survivors with Disabilities is an interactive presentation outlining best practices in supporting people with disabilities who are survivors of sexual assault. You will explore ways to support survivors with disabilities, including an overview of different disabilities and effective communication styles. 

Objectives: By the end of the presentation you will be able to:
  • Identify barriers and understand offender dynamics. 
  • Recognize ways that our understanding of working with people with disabilities can frame our level of support including various accommodations.
  • List collaborative approaches to supporting survivors with disabilities.
Continuing Education: Upon successful completion, 5.5 contact hours will be awarded to nurses, counselors, and social workers. QIDPs will be provided by the presenter, Leanne M. Mull, MHA.
