Human Trafficking uses force, fraud, or coercion to exploit someone for sex or labor. Combatting this crime requires both awareness and knowledge of the tools to best support victims. It is happening within our communities, and survivors need a place for help and support. Take part in this one day-long conference and learn to identify survivors and recognize the language they use, understand human trafficking laws and legal rights, gain knowledge of criminal record relief for survivors, learn about strategies offenders use to groom children, and remedies and ways to protect children online.

Co-Founder and Executive Director of Dreamcatcher Foundation, Brenda Myers-Powell was a product of human trafficking at the age of 14 where she escaped an abusive home life and learned to navigate the streets of Chicago. Living through physical, mental, and sexual abuse not only made her numb to the adversities she faced, they also equipped her to survive as a testament for the young women she was to mentor out of the life. 

Maggie is a Staff Attorney and the Criminal Records Relief Coordinator at the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE). She focuses her practice exclusively on representing survivors of sexual harm in their interactions with the legal system. In particular, she represents victims of sexual violence in the prosecution of their offenders and in their pursuit of civil relief against them. Maggie also assists survivors of human trafficking in obtaining relief from criminal records they received as a direct result of their victimization. 

John is the CEO of Raven, the first and only 501(c)4 group focused on child exploitation in the United States. John works with lawmakers, advocates, agencies, and organizations who are willing to challenge the status quo and fight to protect our most vulnerable citizens. Prior to that, John spent 25 years in the New Jersey State police and spent his last six years as The Internet Crimes Against Children Commander. In this role, he led a team of 200 investigators.
