Course Detail: WELL-9105 - The Highs & Lows of Thyroid Dysfunction

Join Barb Bancroft for a riveting 3-hour seminar on the HIGHs and LOWs of thyroid dysfunction. Barb will begin with an overview on the role of the thyroid in metabolism as well as the control of the thyroid via the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. You'll learn how maternal thyroid function influences the fetus and infant and how congenital hypothyroidism is diagnosed and treated. Barb will discuss the autoimmune causes of hypo- and hyperthyroidism (Hashimoto's disease and Grave's disease), as well as other causes of thyroid hormone deficiency or excess (including drug-induced thyroid dysfunction). 

By the time she finishes the seminar, you will understand how to interpret various thyroid tests and how the various drugs/treatment are used to treat a deficiency or excess. Barb will also discuss the role of diet and iodine-containing foods and thyroid function.
