Course Detail: OPED - Write to Change the World - a Workshop with The OpEd Project
The OpEd Project's mission is to increase the range of voices and quality of ideas we hear in the world. To that end, this one-day workshop offers participants the chance to explore how to establish credibility and present ideas quickly and effectively to support the drafting of their own op-ed around an issue that speaks to the individual's expertise and passion.

In this highly-interactive workshop led by staff from The OpEd Project, you'll explore:
1. How credibility works and how to establish it;
2. How to present ideas quickly and powerfully under pressure;
3. when and why people change their minds; and
4. the difference between being "right" and being effective.

You'll also learn about strategies for greater impact, including how to escape a pigeonhole, how to preach beyond the choir, and the power in seeing your ideas as part of a bigger picture. Participants leave with an outline of an op-ed in hand, and 3 months of access to OpEd Mentor-Editors for individual follow up support.

This workshop is presented as a follow-up to the keynote by The OpEd Project founder and CEO, Katie Orenstein, at the 2018 Inspiring Women in Public Administration Conference. Because of that, a discounted registration rate is offered to those who attended the Conference. Consistent with the organization's mission, women and members of other underrepresented groups are particular encouraged to participate.
