Certified Recovery Support Specialist Success Program 

Course: $3,000 to $3,300

Dates: February 23 to June 22, 2024 

Times: Meeting Schedule Determined by Instructors

Course Description: The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Success Program will provide high quality recovery support training with supervised practical experience and wrap-around supports.  Coordinated by post-secondary educational institutions for individuals with lived experience of mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use recovery.

All registrations must be approved before enrolling by GSU's Addictions Program.

The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Success Program will provide high quality recovery support training with supervised practical experience and wrap-around supports.  Coordinated by post-secondary educational institutions for individuals with lived experience of mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use recovery.

The 3-course program contains 28 four-hour modules totaling 110 hours:

Course 1: Intro to Peer Recovery Support, Etiological Models of Addiction, Peer Support, Coaching, etc., Stages & Processes of Change, Interpersonal Comm/Relations, Relapse Prevention, Screening, Case Mgmt. & Tx, Advocacy & Access, Wellness Plans/WRAP, Multicultural Awareness, Process for ILL Certification.

Course 2: Psychopharmacology, Psychopharmacology (cont.), Professional Ethics, Medication Assisted Treatment, Behavioral/Process Addiction, Special Populations, Assessment & Referral Options, Family Dynamics, Trauma Impact & Implications, Lifestyle Skills & Resilience.

Course 3: Working With Groups, Comorbid SUDs/Mental HealthAdolescents, Effective Coaching TechniquesCrisis Response & Suicide Prev.Tx Options & EnvironmentsAddiction as Disease of DespairUniversal Protection.
