Event Description:
Join us for a powerful and compassionate community conversation focused on education, empowerment, healing, and hope. The Domestic Violence Symposium brings together survivors, advocates, and professionals to raise awareness, share resources, and strengthen our collective commitment to ending domestic violence.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with informative speakers and visit resource tables hosted by local organizations dedicated to survivor support and community wellness, including:

Through defining domestic violence, meaningful dialogue, practical tools, and supportive connections, this symposium aims to educate, uplift, and empower individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.

The Alumni Association at Governors State University hosts the annual Domestic Violence Symposium to raise awareness and combat domestic violence, bringing together alumni, community partners, and advocates to promote education, healing, and connection. This year's symposium partners with Bonneville Event Solutions, led by Stephanie Cooper, whose parents, Roberta Dixon-Bonner and Larry Bonner, were both GovState alumni and employees.

We cover everything from hosting like a pro to publishing your content on platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, you will leave with the confidence to launch your own show and start building an audience. No prior experience is required.

OAI Office Services Specialist Pre-Apprenticeship

Fee: $720 (paid by OAI grant)

Course Description: The OAI Office Services Specialist pre-apprenticeship program offers bridge training to support employees as they build foundational skills that position them for a smooth transition into an apprenticeship role. It complements and supports employers and employees to take advantage of advanced training pathways.

Title:  Understanding Individualized Education Programs: Training in Language and Practice

Description: This six-week, self-paced online course is designed to make the special education process more accessible, transparent, and empowering. Participants will build essential knowledge about Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including their legal foundations, key components, and the roles and responsibilities of IEP team members. The course is designed to help parents, paraprofessionals, and general education teachers participate more confidently in IEP development and decision-making through clear explanations, real-world examples, and user-friendly resources. Emphasis is placed on demystifying language used in IEPs.
