Learn the spirit, core skills and processes of Motivational Interviewing (MI) used by Supported Employment Professionals to engage job seekers in person-centered, collaborative conversations about their employment. MI is a conversation style that can be utilized to involve job seekers more collaboratively, inviting them to share information regarding their current routines, preferred styles of learning new skills, and build a stronger helping relationship. Discussion includes adjustments for communication needs and preferences, as well as cultural and social background. Approved by ODDS for six hours of Continuing Education for Supported Employment Professionals

Quick Spanish for First Responders is for the true beginner or novice, with little or no Spanish language instruction. Students will learn the Spanish vocabulary and phrases necessary to manage emergency situations. By the end of the course, students will be able to use Spanish to identify themselves to people potentially in need of care, ask simple questions and understand answers to accurately assess situations, calm victims and their families, and explain treatment performed by first responders.
