Course Detail: WTEN620 - Foundations of Geometry for Secondary Teachers
This 45-hour course is held twice a week for 15 weeks on live webinar. As a result of this training, participants will be able to demonstrate Euclidean geometry concepts of congruence; similarity, right triangles, trigonometry; polygons and circles; expressing geometric properties with equations; volume and area; and writing formal arguments through use of an axiomatic system. They will also practice pedagogical techniques promoting engagement, persistence, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; use technology to support and increase exploration skills, create effective valid, reliable, and fair assessments; promote desire and curiosity to learn; and reflect on geometry concepts in the secondary special education math classroom and the development of IEPs.
