This course is ideal for facilities looking to change or establish a hybrid formal 75-hour nurse assistant training program.
Online course access will be available beginning 4:00PM CST on the first day of class. Students who already have access to Blackboard will use their current login credentials to access the course. All others will be provided a temporary login ID and password (please watch your email for instructions). Students will be expected to complete and document a minimum of 43 hours of coursework during the four (4) weeks of online theory.
Units of study are introduction to long-term care, communication, infection control, safety, anatomy, physiology of aging, nutrition, skin care, and basic skills (personal care, transferring, positioning, vital signs, elimination, bed making).
A final exam will be issued towards the end of the course. Students who pass the final exam (75% or greater is required) and complete all online coursework requirements (earning a grade of 80% or greater) will earn a certificate of training.
Students will need access to a laptop or desktop computer to complete coursework. Blackboard is mobile-friendly, however some aspects of coursework may require a PC to complete. Students will be required to create videos, and will need to be able to upload and download files from Blackboard. Students will need internet and email access for this course.
Please note that lab and clinical (required portions of a state-approved 75-hour Nurse Assistant Training Program) are not included in this course. These components must be provided by the student's facility with advance approval from the North Dakota Department of Health to utilize this course as part of their 75-hour training program. Students registering for this course must have prior approval from their employer to register for this course. NOTE: As of July 1, 2024, individuals will no longer be able to challenge the state CNA exam in North Dakota with no training or having only partially completed training. Individuals will be required to successfully complete a state-approved 75-hour Nurse Aide Training Program to be eligible to take the state CNA exam. Taking only this 43-hour course will not qualify students to take the state CNA exam.
Books are included in the course fee and will be mailed within a week prior to the class start date.
Minimum Age
Students must be 15 years of age by the start date of the course.
English as a Second Language Students

Felony Disclosure
According to ND Administrative Code 33-43-01-03 and 33-43-01-22, CNA class applicants with a history that includes conviction of a crime substantially related to the qualification, functions, or duties of a certified nurse aide, home health aide, nurse aide, or medication assistant may not be allowed to begin the training program or take the state certification exam without providing specific information relating to their background, criminal history, or impairment. As arrest, conviction, plea, or adjudication that occurred as a juvenile or through juvenile court authorities also applies.
Students must complete a criminal history questionnaire at the time of enrollment in the course. All information disclosed will be reviewed by TrainND Northeast and, if necessary, by the North Dakota Department of Health before students will be allowed to begin class.
Students who have had a prior felony charge may want to inquire with the North Dakota Nurse Aide Registry regarding their eligibility to work as a CNA prior to registering for training.

Registration & Cancellation Policy
Registration for this course will close 5 days prior to the course start date. Books and a copy of the course syllabus will be mailed to students beginning 7 days prior to the course start date.
Cancellation more than 5 days prior to start of training results in a 25% cancellation fee based on the class fee. Cancellation 5 days or less to the start of training results in no refund.
