Biography: Warren Brown is a Mark Twain scholar, storyteller, author, and engaging Chautauqua-style performer who brings the wit, wisdom, and timeless observations of Samuel Clemens-better known as Mark Twain-to life. His acclaimed program, Catch the Twain, connects lessons from history with the experiences and challenges of contemporary life.Warren's work has been recognized by numerous humanities and arts organizations, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, Illinois Humanities, Illinois Arts Council, and Humanities Nebraska. In 2000, he received the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award for his work portraying Mark Twain and making history accessible and relevant to modern audiences.A graduate of the University of Illinois, Warren brings more than four decades of varied professional experience to his storytelling, including work as a small-business owner, corporate manager, author, clerk, laborer, caddy, and even lemonade salesman. He credits his lifelong love of learning-and a healthy sense of humor-with helping him become the educator and performer he is today.Warren's interests include genealogy, comedy, art, science, photography, maps, and, of course, words. His favorite Twain stories include Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven, "An Encounter with an Interviewer," and "How to Tell a Story." He has been praised by audiences as being "Better than Holbrook?almost as good as Twain."
